Anthony Obeng Afrane
Anthony Obeng Afrane hails from Kade in the Eastern Region of Ghana. Over the decades, he has built a reputation as a prolific Ghanaian creative writer, public servant and cultural advocate - with 11 authored books and over 1,000 published articles enriching Ghana's cultural landscape.
His creative work first earned international recognition in 1995, when two of his books competed favourably against works by prominent academic figures, winning him the prestigious Valco Trust Fund Literary Award. A committed Pan-Africanist, he has served voluntarily as a Rapporteur to the Pan African Writers Association (PAWA) at conferences in Nigeria, Djibouti and Morocco.
Beyond literature, Mr. Afrane is a regular columnist for the Daily Graphic - Ghana's most widely read newspaper, with 1.5 million daily readers - and also contributes to Ghanaweb and ModernGhana. Outside the intellectual and public arenas, he is a proud farmer with deep ties to the land.
